A native of Dickson County, Nancy Menke served as Commissioner from January, 1997 to January, 1999, after being appointed by Governor Don Sundquist.  She attended Middle Tennessee State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969 and a Master of Education in Administration degree in 1973.  She was the former executive director of the Tennessee State Employees’ Association and was a government relations assistant for the Tennessee Education Association.  She was also a former principal, guidance counselor and teacher.
