The theme for the Anniversary is "Honoring our Past, Celebrating our Present, Safeguarding our Future: Marking 60 years of Civil Rights in Tennessee". Taking place on the same date as the 60th Anniversary of the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the event will commemorate important figures and moments of the Civil Rights Movement, celebrate the accomplishments of the THRC over the past 60 years, and highlight the state of Civil Rights today and in the future of Tennessee.

The reception will take place in the Lobby of the National Museum of African American Music and the event program will occur in the Roots Theater.
