Module One: Love of Literacy and Books

Overview of Module One: Module 1 will consist of three instructional presentations and one learning application assignment. These presentations will help you explore strategies for developing a love of literacy and language development. The following timeline will help you successfully move through the module providing time to apply what you learn as you go.  Following each presentation, you will have the opportunity to apply your learning through application activities included in the Learning Guide.

• Section One: Complete Presentation One. This section, you will reflect on your own childhood experiences and feelings about books and language.

• Section Two: Complete Presentation 2. This section, you will explore how language develops for children birth to age five.
• Section Three: Complete Presentation 3.  This section, you will explore ways to model a love of literacy through engaging speaking, listening, singing, writing, and reading activities for children birth to age five.
• Section Four: Complete the Learning Application Assignment.
