School Counseling

School counseling programs in Tennessee have always played an important role in the educational process for students. School counselors work with students, families, communities, faculties and staff to address issues that have a substantial impact on student academic, personal/social and career development. Wherever counselors serve, be it in rural, urban or suburban areas, they strive to meet the needs of all students.

The Tennessee School Counseling Advisory Council brings together school  counseling leaders from across the state to promote collaboration and  support the work of school counselors and provide feedback on school

counseling programming, policy, and initiatives. The application window for council membership is open annually, during the summer. As the work continues to grow, the council has a renewed focus on providing opportunities for in-personal collaboration and professional learning opportunities across the state with the belief that Tennessee School Counselors are BETTER TOGETHER.
