Guidance on Permit Requirements for Animal/Pet Crematories


Current Air Pollution Control rules allow owners and operators of animal and pet crematories to submit and receive an “insignificant emissions unit” determination from APC and thus be exempt from the requirement to have an air quality permits.  This document provides guidance to owners and operators of animal/pet crematories for preparing and submitting such requests as well as policy information for APC staff in handling those requests.  Insignificant activity determination requests may be submitted upon or prior to permit renewal or for existing unpermitted units.  Air Pollution Control rules that apply to animal/pet crematories, whether permitted or exempt, are described in the guidance.  This document also provides policy instructions to APC staff in implementing this guidance.
