HIV Prevention Services

The vision and mission of the Tennessee Department of Health, HIV Prevention Services' program is to lower HIV infection, illness, and death rates  by creating an environment of leadership, partnership, and advocacy which fosters HIV prevention and the provision of related services for all Tennesseans at risk of exposure to HIV.

The Tennessee Department of Health’s HIV Prevention Services program coordinates HIV screening, prevention, and linkage to care services through regional health departments, metro health departments, and community-based organizations. 

Health Department Clinics

All health department clinics in Tennessee offer:

·       Lab-based HIV testing

·       STI screening and treatment

·       Free condoms

·       Information about PrEP and PEP

·       Partner Services for HIV

·       Linkage to HIV care

Tennessee HIV Prevention Coalition

The Tennessee HIV Prevention Coalition is composed of six large, regional community-based organizations that provide HIV prevention and screening services. The HIV Prevention Coalition supports a range of activities that include:

·       Rapid HIV testing

·       Linkage to HIV treatment

·       HIV treatment navigation for people with a new HIV diagnosis

·       Free condoms

·       PrEP and PEP referral and navigation services

·       Peer support for people new to HIV

·       Peer support for people vulnerable to HIV

·       Syringe Services
