Replacing a Lost License
If your Driver License has been lost, stolen, or destroyed, you may be eligible to obtain a replacement online. Obtaining a replacement license does not change the expiration date of the original issued license. To obtain a replacement license online, click on Duplicate a License, Permit, or ID under Non-Commercial Driver License in e-Services. You may also apply in person at any Driver Services Center.
Replace a Temporary Driver License
If your temporary license or certificate for driving is lost, stolen or destroyed, you may obtain a duplicate in person at a Driver Services Center. To renew a Temporary Driver License Holders must provide the Acceptable Proof of Citizenship/Lawful Permanent Residency, Acceptable Proof of Tennessee Residency and documentation authorized their extended stay in the United States.
Replace a Commercial Driver License
If your Commercial Driver License is lost, stolen or destroyed, you may obtain a duplicate in person at a Driver Services Center., you must provide a Medical Certification Card, Acceptable Proof of Tennessee Residency, Proof of Citizenship/Lawful Permanent Residency, and Required Documentation of any changes (other than those needed to correct clerical errors).
License Replacement Fees
- First Regular License Duplicate: $8
- Subsequent Regular License Duplicates: $12
- First Commercial Driver License Duplicate: $12
- Subsequent Commercial Driver License Duplicates: $16 dollars
If your lost license will expire within the next 12 months, you may choose to renew the license rather than get a duplicate except for temporary licenses. If your license is set to expire in less than six (6) months, you must renew your license.
