Eagle Scout Project Helps Revive Archery Range
TWRA’s archery range in Williamson County is a partnership between the TWRA and the Williamson County Ag Expo. It is a popular destination for archers wanting to practice their archery skills. The TWRA replaces targets on a two-year rotation and the range was due to have targets replaced in July 2024.
Williamson County officer Hayden Cook saw a way to benefit the community and provide opportunity. Cook had learned of a GoFundMe account, created by avid archer John Clark, to purchase new targets for the range. At about the same time he spoke to Jacob Harris, a young man who wanted to improve the target stands as part of an Eagle Scout project.
Officer Cook reached out to Clark and Harris and developed a path for the two to work together to revitalize the Williamson County Range. Clark was provided the vendor information to purchase the targets used by TWRA and Harris was given direction on how an eagle scout project would best benefit those visiting the range. Targets were purchased, cut, and installed by Harris and Clark earlier this year. Jacob Harris went further to replace wooden portions of the target stands that had become worn or had deteriorated due to exposure to the elements.
