Lt. Jereme Odom Concludes TWRA Career
Lt. Jereme Odom has concluded his career with the Agency, retiring as the Region II Law Enforcement Coordinator for all Middle Tennessee. Jereme, native of Erin, began his career in 1998 on the staff of Region I fisheries, mainly at the Humboldt Hatchery after graduating from UT Martin. He moved into Law Enforcement the following year and was a Montgomery County wildlife officer until 2019 when he became a regional lieutenant.
During his career, Jereme was honored as the SEAFWA Tennessee Wildlife Officer of the Year in 2001 and three years later was named the NWTF’s State Wildlife Officer of the Year. He also received other awards during his career, including the Valor Award.
Jereme was the driving force behind the creation of the Montgomery County Shooting Complex raising close to $1 million toward its completion. Very active in youth outreach programs, Jereme initiated the TOYS program, which he says was his proudest achievement during his career.
“We started with 42 kids, then moved to 100-120 in the years to follow,” he said. “Several were like me who grew up hunting and fishing, but then we had many who were from foster homes and urban areas who had never seen an animal or been exposed to any outdoor activities. To see them to become involved and continue to be in contact with several has been very rewarding.”
Of special note, one of the first students to attend TOYS was Tanner Romsdale. Tanner was promoted to lieutenant and will be following Jereme as the Region II Law Enforcement Coordinator.
