Appeal an Agency Decision
If you are denied unemployment benefits, you have the right to file an appeal. Keep in mind you are probably not eligible if you quit or were fired for disciplinary reasons.
If you feel you were separated from your employer through no fault of your own yet denied benefits, you can file an appeal by logging into Jobs4TN, selecting the determination you wish to appeal, and clicking File Appeal within the left navigation's Services for Individuals, then Unemployment Services.
You must file the appeal within 15 calendar days of the date the agency denial decision was mailed.
Preparing for the Hearing
During the hearing, the appeals hearing officer will take testimony and other evidence such as documents from the parties and their witnesses. The hearing officer will make his or her decision based solely on the evidence and testimony presented during the hearing.
Check Appeal Status
You may check your appeal status within your Jobs4TN account. Check to see if a hearing has been scheduled or even the outcome of an appeal. You may also withdraw an appeal altogether.
If a party disagrees with the decision, that party has the right to appeal to the Office of Administrative Review.
